Dr. Chu-Young Kim
Chu-Young Kim received a BA degree in chemistry from Cornell University, MSE degree in bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania, and PhD degree in chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania. He then carried out postdoctoral research at Stanford University. He served as a faculty member at the National University of Singapore and the University of Texas at El Paso.
Currently, he is a Professor of Biochemistry at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The Kim group studies bacterial enzymes that synthesize natural product drugs (polyketides and nonribosomal peptides) and bacterial proteins that detect and repair DNA damage. He enjoys building and flying RC planes in the summer, and snowboarding in the winter.
